Last Updated: January 25, 2026

1. Information We Collect

When you use Knowmler, we collect the following information:

  • Google Account Information: When you sign in with Google, we collect your email address and basic profile information.
  • YouTube Data: If you authorize YouTube access, we can access video metadata and transcripts to enable content analysis (read-only access).
  • Usage Data: We collect information about your interactions with the Service, including content you analyze and features you use.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
  • Authenticate your identity and manage your account
  • Access YouTube data you've authorized (subscriptions, playlists, etc.)
  • Store your content analysis history and preferences
  • Communicate with you about the Service

3. Google OAuth and YouTube API

Knowmler uses Google OAuth for authentication and the YouTube Data API v3 for accessing your YouTube data.

  • We only request the minimum scopes necessary for functionality
  • YouTube access is requested during sign-in for transcript retrieval
  • You can revoke access at any time via your Google Account permissions
  • We adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy

4. Data Storage and Security

We take data security seriously:

  • Encryption: OAuth tokens are encrypted at rest using industry-standard encryption (Fernet)
  • Secure Storage: Your data is stored securely on our servers
  • Access Controls: Only you can access your personal data and analysis history
  • HTTPS: All data transmission is encrypted using HTTPS

5. AI Processing

Knowmler uses artificial intelligence to analyze your content:

  • AI Analysis: Content you submit (transcripts, PDFs, text) is processed by Claude, an AI service by Anthropic, to generate summaries and analysis reports.
  • No Training: Your content is not used to train AI models.
  • Processing Only: Content is sent to AI services solely for analysis and is not stored by those services beyond the request.

6. Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

  • With Your Consent: When you explicitly authorize us to share specific information
  • Service Providers: With trusted service providers who assist in operating the Service, including cloud hosting (AWS), database services (Neon), and AI analysis (Anthropic)
  • Legal Requirements: When required by law or to protect our rights

7. Your Rights and Choices

You have the following rights regarding your data:

  • Access: View your personal information and analysis history within the app
  • Deletion: Delete your Knowmler account and all associated data from Account Settings
  • Revoke Access: Revoke Google access at any time through your Google Account permissions

You can also revoke Knowmler's access to your Google account at Google Account Permissions.

8. Anonymous Sharing

When you create a share link for your content, your privacy is protected:

  • No Attribution: Share links contain no information about who created them. Recipients cannot identify you as the sharer.
  • No Personal Data: Shared content does not include your name, email, account information, or any identifying details.
  • Unlinkable: There is no way for recipients to connect a shared link back to your Knowmler account.
  • Your Control: You can disable or permanently revoke share links at any time from your library.

This design ensures you can freely share analyses without exposing your identity or browsing habits.
